Trash, trucks, and a 30-metre-high view of Vienna? Sign us up. 🚛🚁

Just outside Vienna’s city-cent, we got a hands-on introduction to waste management at Mistfest 2026, hosted by MA 48, Vienna’s Waste Management department. Instead of the usual lectures about recycling and keeping the city clean, this was a full-on festival—with MA 48 trucks in action, hands-on activities about waste and climate protection, and even a chance to sit in a helicopter.

And the highlight? Riding 30 metres up in a firetruck bucket ladder. So. Cool. 🚒

Free, fun, and surprisingly exciting, Misfest gave us a whole new appreciation for the people & systems that keep Vienna running, and definitely made us feel a little more local today.
